Subject Overview: Education
Bachelor of Arts i.e., B. A. Hons. (Education) is an undergraduate full-time Education course. The duration of this course is 3 years comprising of six semesters. After completion of the course, Graduates may get opportunities in areas like Public relations and Journalism, Editing and Publishing, Creative writing, Guidance & Counselling etc. and work in positions like Teacher, Advisor, Non-fiction writer, Technical writer, Novelist, Public relation journalist, Guide & Counselor etc. Apart from this, this course has a wider scope of employment opportunities in the Department of Education like Sub Inspector of Schools, DIET, B.Ed, M.ED Colleges/Universities, NCERT, SCERT, NCTE etc.
About the Department
The department of Education has three full time Professors and two part time Professors recently associated as SACT by Govt. of West Bengal. They are academically higher qualified, dynamic and dedicated to the students. There are about 150 Hons. Students and about 1000 pass course students in this department.

Method of Evaluation
The department follows the continuous system for evaluation of the students through internal examinations and University Examination.
Special Activities
1) Wall Magazine: Students of the department submit interesting articles related to their syllabus for the purpose of Wall Magazine.
2) Fresher’s Welcome & Farewell: Second year & Third year Honours student’s organise Fresher’s Welcome for the new entrants and First year & Second year Honours student’s organise Farewell for 3rd year students every year.
3) Educational Tours: Educational tours are arranged periodically.
4) Special Lectures: Eminent academicians are invited by the department to deliver special lectures.
5) Students’ Seminar: The students of the department are also encouraged to give seminar presentations from time to time.
6) Participation in inter-college Youth Parliament competition.
Future plan of the Department
1) Advanced use of sophisticated ICT technology in teaching & learning process.
2) Making the teaching-learning course of action more interactive by organizing departmental seminar frequently.
3) Department wants to organize students’ Reunion in every two or three years.
4) The department plans to upgrade the existing departmental library.
5) To encourage the students the department plans to reward the students who get 8.0 grade and above marks in their final University Exam.
6) Considering needs of the present generation we have to adopt technologies to reach in the newer height so that our students can cope-up with other students of various institutions under Vidyasagar University and abroad.
7) To create website through which we can impart lessons both to our students and to other interested people.
