We believe the name and fame of an educational institution rests not only on its result but also on the extra-curricular
activities encouraged and promoted. The following list gives a glimpse of some activities in this field.
Magazine
The College publishes every year its own magazine “Shabdakoli” where students and teachers of the college contribute their
writings on various topics and in different genres .The magazine provides a great opportunity for students to show their
creativity and encourages original thinking beyond the bounds of syllabus.
Sports
Sports is an important part of education since true learning comprise improvement of both body and mind. To this end the college
organizes the annual sport in which students and teachers participate enthusiastically. Successful candidates also represent the
college in different events of the University sports competitions. Apart from that the college has a Football Team that has
participated in various Inter-collegiate Tournaments and brought success to the college.
N.S.S Unit
Two N.S.S Units have been started from session (2012-13) and are being successfully run by Prof. Tinku Kumar Ghorai and
Prof. Akbar Ali Shah with hundred students in each unit. These N.S.S volunteers participated in one Winter Camp and an AIDS
Awareness programme in the locality. We hope that their activities will be successfully continued in the coming sessions.
Health Awareness Programme
‘Health is wealth’ is a proverb that is accepted by all. Our college is also aware of its student’s health because a healthy
body can inherit a healthy mind. The steps taken by us in this regard are the following –

examined to be aware of thalassemia.

Our college has arranged AIDS Awareness Rally on world Aids Day. To spread awareness of this fatal disease among the local people.
-
Our college is member of the Red Ribbon club also and encourages students to the noble act of Blood Donation.
Cultural Programmes
Only reading book and setting for examination is not enough to be a good human being. Cultural programmes of different types
are arranged to generate hidden virtue which should be accelerated through an Educational Institution. Moreover, it gives also
a respite from academic activities and makes college campus joyful and vibrant. Such are -

Publishing the college magazine (Shabdakoli) every year August.
